| CD36 is an integral membrane protein found in a variety cell types of mammals, it is part of the class B scavenger receptor family. In humans it is encoded by the CD36 gene. The protein binds to ligands such as native lipoproteins, collagen, long-chain fatty acids, thrombospondin etc. CD36 plays a crucial role in transporting fatty acids into the cell. | |
