| Integrin Binding Sialoprotein (IBSP) is a monomeric noncollagenous protein which belongs to the SIBLING family of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. IBSP is synthesized by platelets, odontoblasts, osteocytes, osteoblasts, osteoclasts, and bone marrow stromal cells. IBSP forms an integral part of the mineralized matrix and also plays a role as the main mediator of the hypertrophic chondrocytes-induced angiogenesis. IBSP which binds firmly to hydroxyapatite is related to the severity of histological cartilage lesions. | |
