| Introduction | |
| Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells that resorb bone and are essential for bone homeostasis. OSCAR plays crucial roles in the regulation of the innate and adaptive immune responses.Unlike the other LRC members, OSCAR expression is found specifically in preosteoclasts or mature osteoclasts. OSCAR is an important bone-specific regulator of osteoclast differentiation. Multiple alternative splicing transcript variants encodes different isoforms have been found for this gene. | |

Background |
Oropouche virus also known as OROV which is a part of the Peribunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus family is an arthropod-borne virus. OROV transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes, with Culicoides and Aedes species being the most common vectors. OROV is very popular in South America, mainly in Brazil and is associated with outbreaks of febrile illness, often accompanied by symptoms such as headache, muscle and joint pains and retro-orbital pain. The nucleoprotein (N) of OROV plays a main role in the virus's lifecycle by forming part of the viral ribonucleoprotein complex that encapsidates the viral RNA genome and is involved in different stages of viral replication. |
